The Online GAMMA meeting-seminar ‘Games in MaLT2 and Choico’ took place virtually in Microsoft Teams on November 11-12, 2021. The meeting was organized by the ETL Team of the Faculty of Philosophy of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, in Greece. Fifteen participants from the four partner countries attended the activity, which lasted six hours in total. The central aim of the activity was for GAMMA partners to engage in playing and co-designing games with the two authoring tools: MaLT2 and ChoiCo.

The first day involved presentations by the NKUA team of the MaLT2 manual and video tutorial as well as a  Focused Authoring System (FAS) and a game called ‘Hit the target’ designed in MaLT2. The participants engaged in playing the game and in discussing and reflecting on it. Then participants were divided into different virtual rooms in groups of two and designed their own version of the game in MaLT2 by integrating different mathematical concepts. At the end of the first day, all groups presented and discussed their gaming idea and the learning outcomes of their game.

The second day involved similar activities with the ChoiCo authoring tool. The NKUA team started with a presentation of the ChoiCo manual and video tutorial. Then the ‘Covid game’ was presented and all participants engaged in playing it and discussing its gaming and learning aspects. Afterward, participants were divided into different rooms in groups of two and co-designed a gaming idea based on the ‘Covid game’ by integrating mathematical ideas. In the end, all participants shared and discussed their ideas and their possible learning outcomes.
